Alleycat Creative was engaged to assist the Melbourne Aquarium with community outreach mural project for a 83sqm Flinders Street Melbourne facade.
Through consultation with Alleycat Creative the idea of a drawing competition was created to engage the community to participate in transforming their Aquarium. Aquarium social media followers were invited to draw their favourite sea creature which artist Mike Makatron was then going to interpret upon the exterior wall. Alleycat Creative managed all council permit applications (including building and equipment), wall surface prep work with a building facade contractor, traffic management plans and mural install project management. The 6 year old artist who won the competition with her Jellyfish drawing was invited to the Aquarium to meet Makatron on the final day of his install.
The story of the mural appeared on the Channel 9 news.
The mural was installed over a 4 day period in August 2018.
